Using the most advanced methodologies, we provide policymakers, education professionals, and the general public with an objective and rigorous assessment of the effectiveness and value of education programs.  Abt conducts evaluation studies across the entire continuum of education–from pre-school to graduate education. Our studies particularly emphasize disadvantaged and under-represented students.

Adult Learning

Abt is nationally known for its rigorous research and evaluation, model development, and technical assistance projects that address adult learning. We look at learning in the context of basic skills instruction and organizational systems.

Abt’s diverse project portfolio has been funded by federal and state governments, as well as by foundations. Our projects address key issues—state systemic change, program and teacher effectiveness, implementation of federal and state policies, and transition to postsecondary education and employment.

Early Childhood

Abt has been a leader in the rigorous evaluation of early childhood education programs. Our studies have provided policymakers at the national and local levels with data that have helped to improve programs for young children.

K-12

Abt is a nationally recognized leader in the rigorous evaluation of programs and practices in elementary and secondary education.

For over 45 years, Abt has conducted studies for federal, state, and local governments on some of the most important policy issues in education—literacy, innovations and reform in education, expanded day and after-school programs, and college/career preparation programs.

Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM)

Abt has extensive expertise conducting research, evaluation, and technical assistance for federal and local science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. Our experience spans elementary and secondary education, higher education, post-graduate education, careers, and research programs. Our work includes informal and formal education settings.

Abt provides general evaluation support services and technical assistance. We also conduct experimental, rigorous quasi-experimental, and descriptive studies.
