For 50 years Abt Associates has been at the forefront of research on the central educational issues of our time. From the implementation of new federal laws, policies, or programs, the impact of innovations on student outcomes, or increasing access to educational learning opportunities, Abt has a long history of using the strongest methods available to answer pressing questions, and, through this research, helping to improve education programs and policies for our public education system. We offer a full range of evaluation methods and analytic tools to provide valid and reliable evidence for program developers, implementers, philanthropists, policy makers, and researchers.

Our work includes early childhood education, literacy, mentoring, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, professional development, teacher preparation and effectiveness, expanded day/after-school programs for children and youth, college/career preparation, parent education, and access programs.

Abt researchers match the specific research methods appropriate to the questions asked, through experimental and quasi-experimental evaluation designs, implementation and process studies, assessments of program fidelity, and in developing new analytic methods that help advance education evaluation. We also provide technical assistance to other educational evaluators to ensure that their studies can meet the highest standards of scientific evidence.
