Through the USAID-funded Rural Economic Diversification Project (RED), Abt Associates assists small farmers in the Dominican Republic to diversify their production and become more competitive in the global marketplace. By strengthening competitive value-added clusters for agricultural and wood products that are produced on small farms, Abt is helping to increase rural incomes of small-scale farmers, promote food security for the poorest of the poor and protect the environment. The project actively engages all stakeholders, from small producers, transporters, and producer associations to NGOs, universities, the private sector, communities and the Dominican government.
