Abt Associates: Bold thinkers driving real-world impact
Too few undergraduate and graduate students are pursuing STEM majors and, ultimately, careers, at a time of increased demand for highly skilled STEM-literate employees in the U.S. economy.
The National Science Foundation’s Scholarships in STEM (S-STEM) program awards grants to colleges and universities to provide scholarships to academically talented and financially needy students to pursue majors — and then careers — in science and engineering disciplines. The grantee institutions provide more than financial scholarships alone; they offer students a broad range of supports to help them obtain degrees in STEM disciplines and eventually seek employment in areas that draw upon their STEM knowledge.
Abt Associates and its subcontractor SageFox are conducting a three-year study of the program. The evaluation:
