Environmental Chemistry, Fate, and Transport Analysis
Abt Associates offers extensive experience assessing the fate and transport of chemicals in the environment. Our work has included extensive chemical characterization of:
Contamination sites; contaminant fate and transport modeling in terrestrial, aquatic, and subsurface environments;
The use of chemical techniques in environmental forensics to determine contaminant sources and transport pathways;
Chemical “fingerprinting” analyses of organochlorines and petroleum hydrocarbons; and
Inorganic chemical speciation analysis, modeling, and transport studies.
Our chemistry expertise embraces high-resolution field sampling techniques, oversight and management of chemistry analysis, detailed quality assurance protocols, and modeling. Our fate and transport work has included field studies, hydrodynamic and tracer studies, pathway monitoring, and mass balance and transport modeling.
